MOON

In a future where the planet is no longer dependent on fossil fuels, where everything is run on clean Helium 3 (HE3). A fusion energy harvested from lunar rocks on the dark side of the moon. And who’s their to maintain those harvesters? Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell “Matchstick Men”, “Iron Man 2”) and the labs smart computer GERTY (Kevin Spacey, “American Beauty”, “The Men Who stare at Goats”).

Working in a lab on the moon for 3 years can really mess with your head. Especially when there is no live satellite feed back to earth; having to rely on pre-recorded messages to and from home to see how his wife and doughtier are doing. Going that long without any real human contact your brain begins to play tricks on you. Like seeing young girls wandering around on the surface of the moon, or finding yourself in a crashed lunar rover and bringing “you” back to the lab to fix “you” back up. Moon uses almost seamless green screen to show two Sams talking with each other, fighting, and even playing Ping-Pong. Moon is a griping drama that portrays the “lives” of one man held at the whims of a big energy corporation. Even when harvesting a clean renewable resource this company still has it’s dirty deeds.

Moon is a great realistic Sci-Fi that should be seen by any fan of Sci-Fi or is just a fan of dramas. Amazingly acted by Sam Rockwell playing two very poler part.

4 stars.

Up Next-Matchstick Men.

The New Plan

So, I have been wondering how I am to go about this. And have decided that instead of picking random movies I will go about it ”Six Degrees of Separation” style. One movie will lead to another witch will lead to another and so on based on the actors in those movie. I might even throw a Kevin Bacon in every 6th review if I can. So stay tuned for Moon, coming soon.

I also fixed the American Beauty post. it’s not as good as it was before. cant remember what I had down and was drawing a blank.

And so it begins

So, it is a well known fact that I watch a good deal of movies. But it wasn’t until I was pushed into writing about them. But with this came a problem; where do I start?Do I go with the first movie in the collection in Alphabetical order? (007 Dr. No) Or do I go with one of my favorite and most watched movies?(Oceans Eleven) Then it struck me. Who is the greatest person to ever grace the big screen?

                                Academy Award Winner Kevin Spacey

And when you think Kevin Spacey the first thing that comes to mind should be thinking.

American Beauty is a comedic tragedy about the life of an American family living in the Suburbs. Opening with a great narrative by Mr. Spacey himself tells the tragic life of his charter Lester Burnham. The story of Lester’s life is not only of pain and suffering, but of rebellion. Living with his wife Carolyn (Annette Bening, Running With Scissors, The Siege.) and his daughter Jane (Thora Birch, Ghost World) both who can’t stand to be in the same room with him, Lester goes through a drastic evolution as the movie progresses. From the highlight of his day being masturbating in the shower, too quiting the job he hates, picking up a fast food job and buying his dream car. That 1970 Pontiac Firebird! He sure does rule!
